I’m a little obsessed with Disney World. When I went as a child, the trip was so magical and memorable that I spent the rest of my childhood daydreaming about it. And when I got the chance to go as an adult- it didn’t disappoint.
Given my love for Disney- it’s not surprising that I’ve been fantasizing about taking my own little girl there since before she was born. Heck- before she was even conceived! But I dont want to take her when she is too young to have fun- so I’ve been trying to strategize the right time to make the trip. And now- I think I have something to wait for! There is word that the Magic Kingdom may be doing the biggest expansion it’s done in my lifetime.
The Orlando Sentinel reports plans have been leaked. Are they legit- who knows. But if they are…then Princesses are about to takeover the Magic Kingdom. And as a mom of an already Tinkerbelle obsessed toddler- nothing could make me happier! See some renderings below…

From what I can gather the expansion includes an area for Winnie the Pooh, as well as Tinkerbelle and her fellow fairies, Princess Aurora, Cinderella, and the Little Mermaid.
No date has been set for groundbreaking or completion, but I would gladly wait a couple years to visit the Magic Kingdom after these additions will be put in place! It sounds wonderful! My fingers are crossed that the plans are met with enthusiasm and they start digging soon! My little girl is going to be ready for her first visit soon!
Have you taken kids to Disney? What age do you think is a good time to go?
How fun! I’ve taken my son to Disney twice, once at age three and again at age six. I think three is too young, but five or six (depending on height) is perfect. He was able to ride nearly all the rides, but still enthralled by the Disney magic. We’ll probably go again when my daughter is about the same age.
JDaniel hasn’t been yet. I think we will wait until he is in kindergarten.
I have friends that are die-hards and are taking their 1 year olds… We’re going to wait until he’s tall enough to go on a bunch of the rides. so, 36″-48″
But then again… Disney is just a day trip for us.
SWEET! Is all I can say about that! Although, I have never been to Disney World but am dying to go…. so I won’t have any before or after to compare it to. But expansion at Disney can only mean GREATNESS! Last time I went to Disneyland my first (and only set at the time) were 8, 5 and infant (the infant stayed with home with Grandma). I am thinking in about 2 or 3 years I want to go with my little ones (and the big ones of course too).
That looks awesome and like so much fun! My little cousin Elena loves princesses too (she’ll be 9 this weekend!) and my aunt and uncle took her (she was 8) with her cousin (she was 9 at the time) and her parents (they came from Ireland to meet up in Florida) for a big “meeting of the princesses”! I think Molly would love it and maybe you should take her when she is like 7 or 8.
I used to think there was such a thing as “too young” too, but we took my youngest son (who is now almost 5) when he was 2 and he had a blast! He still talks about that first trip. It was actually 3 months before his 3rd birthday. He’s been back once since, and we’re looking forward to another trip to Disney this May.
sounds like fun. i think that if there is a height issue for children to go on rides that should be considered. carrying a child would be tiring, so ages 3-5. you can also invite grandparents to help out with babysitting, giving parents some adult time, and whatever.
LOVE Disney! Been there about 40 times! 🙂 I have my own tips and tricks page on my blog. So excited about the expansion!
I am A LOT obsessed with Disney!!!! We go as much as we can and we just bought a vacation home that we rent out when we are not there! I love it!!!! My kids love it!!! My husband loves it!!! We can’t WAIT to see this expansion. It is going to amazing!
