The Gaylord Texan ICE – is a feast for the senses! We’ve gone as a family in past years, and its always ended up being a highlight of the holiday season for us. This year I took my preschool age daughter as a mommy & daughter date! We had an absolute blast!
The theme this year was the Nutcracker Ballet, and Christmas in New York! The characters done in the ICE display are truly breathtaking, colorful and such fun. Before you enter the display walkway, you are given matching coats. That said, if you have kids in your party, or those easily chilled… my advice is to bring your own hat and gloves as well. They keep it a chilly 9 degrees in there!
It’s cold!
You walk through several areas that have different themes. First is The Nutcracker, which culminates in a fantastic photo/fun opportunity where you can slide down slides made entirely of ice lit from below with lights! next you go through a Christmas in New York area, and finally a beautiful ICE Nativity.
You can really make a day of it at the Gaylord as well. Among other offerings are snow tubing on REAL SNOW! In Texas, seeing and playing on real snow isn’t always in the cards if you rely on Mother Nature. It’s super fun, watch my going down the slope POV video below!
A short video of what it looked like in person…
Other offerings I haven’t experienced myself, but that look super fun are: Gingerbread House decorating, Dreamwork character meet and greets, 5D Movie experience, Madagascar Crack-A-Lackin’ Cook-In, DreamWorks Themed Scavenger Hunts! And of course… you can visit Santa and just enjoy the other fabulous Holiday decorations the Gaylord puts up.
If you live in or are visiting the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area this holiday season I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend the Gaylord Texan Holiday experience! It’s really one of a kind.
