My daughter is 4, and it seemed the perfect age for her to enjoy the modern day tradition of “The Elf on the Shelf!” We purchased our elf and book on Amazon, I’ll include a link below. I have also seen them at Hallmark stores and various shops. We had only one complaint? Where were the girl Elf on the Shelf’s? Sure they sold a skirt you could add, and we did buy one. But that just looked odd on an otherwise boy elf base.

How we made our Elf on the Shelf a Girl….
(our Elf pre – sex change operation. I promise I did NOT pose his hands like that on purpose..lol)
Supplies:
- Super glue.
- mini pom poms of various sizes.
- A little dot of creme blush
- A skirt made or bought.
- An old pair of earrings you are willing to donate to the cause, or 2 of those decorative straight pins would be GREAT pearl earrings!
- A safety pin to do the ear piercing.
(You can ask for just a couple of these decorative floral pins at any Florist fyi. We opted for a small pair of sparkly studs because we were going for glammma!)
We added poms to feet, chest, and tip of hat which I folded over a bit and super glued. A dab of extra blush on the cheeks, Skirt on, and after making holes with a safety pin I put a dab of glue on and secured some of mommy’s old studs in the Elf’s ears! I think next year I may add some sequins to her collar.
But overall – I think she is quite fetching!

I need another boy elf on the shelf. Problem is, I accidentally ordered another girl. It’s easy to change a male to a female, but how do I change a girl to a boy elf? Any ideas?
