I love mulled cider, don’t you? And making the mulling spices to add to either apple juice or store bought cider is super simple – and YOU control the ingredients!
This is a very simple mulling spice recipe you can add to both cider or red wine. You can add other spices as well – feel free to make it your own!
~Basic Mulling Spice Recipe~
- 5 3/4 cups brown sugar
- 3 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp ground orange peel
- 2 tbsp ground cloves
- 2 tbsp ground allspice
- 1 tbsp ground nutmeg
- Cinnamon sticks (optional)
- 1/3 cup Whole allspice (optional)
Mix all ingredients together and mix well. Store in an airtight jar until needed.
To use, add 1/2 cup of mixture and 1 cup of water for every 2 cups of cider or red wine. Bring to a boil and stir until well dissolved, then reduce to a simmer. Strain. Serve immediately or simmer until ready to serve.
