When was the last time you checked your headlights? No ladies… I don’t mean your car’s headlights. I mean yours!
It’s October – breast cancer awareness month. And now that 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives, it’s more important than ever that we all do a monthly breast exam on OURSELVES! Going to the doctor and having mammograms and yearly breast exams during OBGYN visits are vital. But knowing what’s going on in your own body – is key to being your own advocate.
When Go Daddy approached me to be a part of their ‘Check Your Headlights’ program it reminded me of something that used to hang in my shower growing up…
As soon as I was a teenager my mom stuck a shower hang on our shower head, that showed the steps to doing a monthly self exam standing in the shower (which is slightly different than laying down). And I love her commitment to showing me how important that was as well as her wanting to keep herself aware of any breast changes.
Other ways to remind yourself?
- Set an alarm on your cell phone!
- Band together with girlfriends to remind each other on a certain day each month to check your headlights!
- Add it to your online calendar!
- Get a shower hang!
Go Daddy would love to know your tip for reminding yourself to check your headlights and is giving away a $500 shopping spree!
