Cranberry Apple Crumble Recipe #YayOats

October 26, 2012 Shannon Schmid

We recently celebrated National Oatmeal Day by making a fun new version of one of my all time favorite snacks! To me – an apple crisp is just totally and completely a part of fall, but I’ve recently discovered that I can put a really fun holiday twist on that old classic by adding cranberries and pralines as well! And of course-Quaker® Old Fashioned Oats on top!

As a child I loved Quaker® Old Fashioned Oats as hot cereal on a cold winter morning, and it tastes like the ultimate comfort food to me. This Cranberry Apple Crumble recipe takes that comfort food taste, and adds a little adult sophistication with the tart as well as sweet taste it has! I highly recommend serving it hot, next to vanilla ice cream!

Cranberry Apple Crumble!

BOTTOM LAYER INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups chopped & peeled granny smith Apples
  • 2 cups cranberries (the bag at the grocery store usually is perfect)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (regular or brown is fine)
  • 3 level tablespoons all-purpose flour

OAT CRUMBLE TOP:

  • 1-1/4 cups Quaker® Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS:

Combine chopped apples, cranberries, sugar & flour. Pour into a greased baking dish. In a bowl, mix the topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle on top of the apple mixture. Bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes or until fruit is tender. WARNING: Your house will smell extra yummy all day 🙂

In honor of National Oatmeal Day on October 29th, vote for my recipe and I have a chance to be featured in the Quaker® Oats newsletter.

When you vote, you will be entered to win a $1,000 gift card! Yay Oats!Official Sweepstakes Rules
