Chevy’s Mom’s Time Out Mission #1 – Grocery Shopping!
So as I told you all in a previous post I am one of three Dallas/ Fort Worth moms who are driving a Chevy Malibu for one month, so I can report back to you all what the experience is like!
Last week I got the car, and I wrote about it HERE. This week we were sent on the first of four “Mom Missions” to use the Chevy Malibu, and see how it integrates into our daily life!
For some reasons husbands and kids like when there is food in the house- and as moms, that necessitates our buckling up car seats, going to the store and then loading groceries into trunks and hauling it all home! It can be exhausting. Especially in 100 degree Texas heat!
Grocery shopping is generally one of my least favorite activities, but the Chevy Malibu did make it more fun! Here is what I liked best..
–How can you not enjoy rocking out to XM radio’s 80’s and 90’s channels?
–The Malibu also allowed me to start the car remotely, before getting in it- so that it had a chance to cool down before I had to get the baby in a hot carseat.
–The trunk was VERY roomy, and actually fooled me into thinking I had shopped less than I had. A handy trick;)
Below is a short video of my trip! Enjoy!

PS. Chevy has just launched a website where you can catch the other moms that are trying out Chevy Malibu’s too! They are also having a sweepstakes for a daily prize- so stop by and enter. To Enter click: Gotta Love Chevy DFW!
PSS. This week I will be writing a post addressing some of the questions you all asked about the Chevy Malibu when I first got it! If you have any more feel free to leave me a comment, and I’ll be sure to put a link to your blog in my post if I answer your question!

It must be wonderful to have the car cool when you get in.
@JDaniel4’s Mom, It really is! And it locks the ignition so even though the car is started it cant be driven away until I put the key in and turn it on myself. But in the meantime it gets frosty cool:)
You are trying our a car? Seriously?
.-= alicia´s last blog ..25 iTunes Giveaway to say THANKS- =-.
@alicia, Seriously!! I wouldn’t lie to you guys! LoL. It’s great, but I’m not gonna lie…I’m gonna be crying when I have to give it back in a month!!!!
🙂
Um I think I might be sold on the car-starter. I SO need that in this snowy weather up here. I could remotely start it and defrost and be ice and snow free… (something I’m sure ya’ll don’t deal with too often!)
OH and i love the headbanging!
@Danielle, The lady who was setting me up in the Malibu was telling me that when she lived in Boston girls in her office used to start their cars from inside the building in winter so that when they got outside their cars would be toasty warm and they wouldn’t have to scrape snow off the car, because it would already be all melted!
That’s pretty darn cool!! Craig’s curreny company car is a Malibu, and it’s been the best company car he’s had so far.

@liz, A company car is such an awesome perk! And a Malibu is a fun choice, what a neat company he must work for:)
I love how your daughter is rocking out in the video! Looks like a cool car…you are so lucky!
I know people with the remote starter and they love it during our Chicago winters….
@Lynn, Oh my Lynn- I am SURE in Chicago that must be a must have feature! It gets cold!! Thanks for the compliment on my daughter as well- she is truly enjoying watching her mommy rock out to the 80’s and 90’s channels! And I guess she has the car dancing gene…cuz her lil diaper bootie can sure shake it;)
Shannon, whoah, what an incredible opportunity! Too cool! We’re looking for a new car, so I’m looking forward to following your experiences with the Chevy Malibu. Love that XM Radio!
@Jenn Erickson/Rook No. 17, Hey Jenn- I hope this series on the Malibu can help you think through features you may want in your new car! I SUPER love the XM radio- I never really GOT the point of XM before, because it seemed like you already have radio, so who needed more? But man- I love the no commercials, and the channels devoted to decades! I knew I was an 80’s girl…but apparently I dig the 90’s too:)
That is great – love the video, and your little helper! I would love the Car -Starter, my truck is over 100 degree’s when I get in it. I’ll have to write down that feature on a wish list for the next vehicle.
.-= Sonia Barton´s last blog ..Scared of my Vacation =-.
@Sonia Barton, Believe me I am SO adding it to my future wish list too Sonia! I am gonna miss it when it’s not there! I am gonna have withdrawal from this car! LOL.
I miss the auto-start.
*sniffle*
@Texasholly, The other day I had our “other” car, and I kept trying to start it remotely. It took me like 5 tries before I was like “oh, this isn’t the Malibu. Whoops!”
I am gonna miss that starter too!
awesome Shan! M’s dad has a car starter and he used it once in the snow to warm up the car, I walked over to the car and I was all freaked out, I was like wha!? He explained what it was lol. Its a very convenient idea! ps I love the video of you and molly rockin out! 🙂

@Nikki, I bet in Cold and snowy places the remote starter would be even MORE awesome! No more scraping snow of windshields! yay!!
I have a 2010 Malibu and I don’t have a car starter. I wish I did. 🙁
