Pillows are kind of important to my husband and I. We both have very particular likes and dislikes. My husband seems to gravitate towards very full fluffy pillows since he sleeps on his back for the most part. However I am a side sleeper, and so prefer more compact, firm pillows…otherwise I end up breathing in mouth fulls of pillow fluff 🙂
However, I recently got a chance to try a GREAT new pillow when the nice people at Select Comfort/Sleep Number®sent me a free CoolFitTM foam pillow to review w/ AirFitTM.
(Right away you will notice this pillow is different, the box has a heft to it. This is a substantial feeling pillow!)
My husband already owns a sleep number pillow (he has the European White Goose Down model) and I was frequently stealing it from him… until I got this Cool Fit one.
The main difference for me, is that this pillow is less stacked and therefore accommodates my neck better. Also the foam is soft but dense. So when my face is on it, it allows my breathing to be unencumbered by fabric near my nose and mouth when I’m on my side.
Other cool features of the pillow include:
- The ability to control your own comfort with it’s ability to adjust using the air chamber
- Because it has an air chamber in the middle it can change with you when your sleep needs change. Softer or firmer by just turning the chamber dial.
- Gel – infused memory foam offers cooler sleeping temperatures.
My favorite way to use the air chamber is rather than setting it to my preferred firmness and then closing it, I keep the chamber open all night so that I I move around the chamber takes in more air, or less depending on my given position. I love that I can choose not to mess with it, and it will still be working behind the scenes to keep me cool and comfy.
-If you are interested in learning more about sleep number products you can check out their Facebook page as well as Twitter. FYI- they have a 20- 50% off on pillows right now 🙂
*Also a note to my husband: I will no longer be stealing your pillow. You can send your thank you note to the people at Sleepnumber;)

OH what a wonderful pillow you have found. I tend to be a side sleeper as well and it is difficult to find a pillow that’s not all in your face when you are sleeping. I currently tend to do a lot of boxing with mine and may just have to give this pillow a try. Thanks for the wonderful, informative review! Hugs, xoxo
@Mitzi, Thanks Mitzi! Glad it was helpful to you. Pillow shopping can be so hit or miss I find – so I’m definitely glad to add my two cents to the conversation!
I have a sleep number bed and would like information concerning this pillow, of which I didn’t know was available.
Thank you.
Wow. Foam pillow is more comfortable pillow.

Looks like that is one very comfortable pillow. I have been suffering from lack of sleep lately due to my old bed and hard pillows. I never bought new ones just to save but it was such a bad idea after all. I started to lose focus at work. Got to try having these pillows then if I can afford, I’d purchase a sleep number bed.
