If you’re a regular reader, you know we recently took a trip to Georgia. We had lot’s of fun on my Dad & Stepmothers farm – but also on a few unique side trips we took. One was going to a sweet Boutique toy store in Rome Georgia, called Ginger’s Dollings & Cattywags!
Although this toy store sells lots of different things, its most well known for it’s Middleton Doll Newborn Center.
(Pumpkin and grammie in front of Ginger’s! The doll was an early birthday gift from grammie & grampie!)
At Ginger’s kids can pick from lots of baby dolls that look amazingly real! The detail is really astounding. Some with eyes close, some open – some with mouths ready for sucking their thumbs! The babies come in all different sizes, hair, eye and skin colors!
(Measuring her baby)
And after they have picked out their own special baby, the child is brought to an “adoption room” that looks like a mini baby doll hospital room. The kids are asked questions about how they will love and take care of their dolls, their babies are measured & weighed! And finally your child names the new addition, and signs the paper work – and is the official mom or dad of a newborn Middleton doll. It’s all done with such care, and such gentleness.
Its super sweet to watch! Here is a sneak peek of what our experience was like…
My preschooler loves this store, and spends hours taking care of her baby! In fact on the way home from Georgia she asked me if we could do a blog post all about her new Middleton baby boy – so that will be coming up!
(On our way home from the adoption, our daughter held her babies hand! )
If your looking for a fun family trip in Georgia I highly recommend this adorable shop, and the doll adoption process there! It’s about 2 hours outside of Atlanta. Ginger’s is located at 247 Broad Street, Rome GA 30161.
I’e seen these dolls in our local toy store and always thought that they looked so cute. I wonder how many will be bought and named after the new royal baby just born?!
That’s really awesome! I didn’t even know that there are places that do doll adoptions. What a great learning experience for the kids! I’ll also have to check out these Middleton Dolls, just curious as to how lifelike they are.
These are too cute! It’s almost scary that they look so real. I always wanted dolls like this when I was a kid, but never had any. (boo-hoo). I want to get something like these for my granddaughters.
What a neat place. The doll she picked is really cute and I am sure she will love it for a long time.
I love hearing that people still take the time to make things special for their buyers.. Instead of just cashing out! I can imagine it made your daughters day 🙂
I love how the sit down with the parents and talk over baby care with them.
Oh, you missed the Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia! You adopt Cabbage Patch Babies there. They are really set up like a hospital delivery room and you can pick out your baby and you go thru adoption with a judge and get papers!
I did that with my daughter when she was young and it was really cute! We have pics of her standing next to the judge in her robes!
Kids would love going there if they play with dolls.
