Okay, so some of you may know I was a Theater Major in college. So I can honestly say that I have both seen, and participated in some terrible auditions in my time! And I just thank God – that to my knowledge none of them were caught on tape. Unfortunately Chris Klein (of American Pie fame) can no longer say the same thing.
Have you all seen the movie Mamma Mia? It’s basically the songs of ABBA used to tell a story of a young woman about to get married who doesn’t know who her father is. The characters break into song, just as they did when the show was on Broadway. Apparently Chris Klein auditioned for the role of the fiance- and um, he was kinda scary.
I’m warning you- this audition tape may give you nightmares. You have been warned….
The word that comes to mind is…. eeewww. Poor kid.

Wow oh wow. At first I was thinking it wasn’t so bad……aaaaaaand then I continued to listen and OMG! Wow….yeah…poor kid. He really was trying to sing. This makes me so incredibly thankful that none of my auditions were taped, too!

Cringe. What bothered me most were his annoying facial expressions.
@Tom J, Right??? It’s like he is willing himself to sing- through increasing the pressure to his eyeballs:)
#1 Horrific on the singing front. I mean really really wow…how does your agent let you get that far in auditioning for a musical??
#2 I still find him adorable. Yes, I realize that’s problematic. I hadn’t really thought of him in years so this could also be an amazing PR stunt.

@Jenny, Yeah, he does seem to REALLY REALLY like Mandy. The bug eyes are gonna scare poor Mandy away though;)

I didn’t know you were a theater major. Very cool! I am a huge theater nerd myself and was in tons of musicals in my younger years (someday I’ll do more) and I must say I’m glad some of my auditions were not caught on tape. The days of YouTube are a killer aren’t they? You can’t get away with anything. 😉

lol we got new computers at work and yeah i have sound now!!!! which means…i got to see that…with music…with his singing…I’m glad it had sound cause I think watching his face would be more scary without it! (sorry if that sounds mean but I’m truly frightened now lol)
