~Cranberry infused vodka recipe~

Economy got you down? Too many gifts to buy? What about making something homemade this year?

This is an easy recipe I found earlier last month. It’s adapted from a Martha Stewart recipe, and it came out so yummy, and was so simple to do- I just had to pass it on!

My husband Michael and I really enjoyed using this fruit infused vodka in cranberry juice, and as an ingredient in cosmopolitans! This recipe would also make fantastic, and economical gifts for friends or family this Christmas- I put some in mason jars just for that purpose!

Unfortunately, some of my friends, and family will never get this from me! Some of you live too far away! And I think the U.S. Postal service forbids sending items like this in the mail because… well, they would be quite flammable. lol.

Anyway, the recipe is below for anyone looking for a tasty weekend project! Also, an FYI- I found the older this mixture was, the stronger and more delicious the fruit taste was! So my recommendation is to make this a few weeks before you plan on giving it as a gift, that way your recipients can enjoy it’s full cranberry goodness!

~Cranberry & Orange Infused Vodka~

Ingredients:

Makes 4 cups

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 piece fresh orange peel (2-by-1-inch)
  • 3 cups vodka ( a mid to higher range brand works best)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat cranberries, sugar, and water until the sugar dissolves, the liquid begins to turn a light-pink color, and the cranberries just begin to pop. Pour the cranberries and the liquid into a large glass jar; stir in peel and vodka. Cover, and let stand at room temperature at least 3 days or up to one month. Strain before serving.

Enjoy!!!!
