Daddy Daughter Dance – City of Arlington

There is one date on my 4 year old daughters social calendar that she looks forward to all year long – The Daddy Daughter Dance! Lot’s of cities have them, and they are a great way for dads and daughters to have some special time together that is just theirs!  And if you live in the Dallas & Ft. Worth area – the city of Arlington’s Park & Rec department does a particularly sweet job, of hosting a Daddy Daughter Dance each year! This years dance will be held February 23rd.

The City of Arlington Daddy Daughter Dance Ticket price includes: a complimentary photo of the “couple” – as well as light refreshments and an evening of dancing the night away! There is an earlier and later dance (early Dance: 4-6pm, Late Dance: 7-9pm).  Our experience has been that younger girls tend to go to the earlier dance, and the slightly older girls probably enjoy going to the dance more after dark. You can also purchase tickets for limo rides, and buy additional photo packages if you’d like.

Afternoon of the Dance: Last year we tried putting curlers in baby girls hair for the first time, and she was allowed to wear finger nail polish outside the house for the first time! Up until then it was only for play when we were home. She loved getting to wear it out – it was a real treat to her! And I just love the photo below, as it really captured her excitement over getting ready for the evening to come! She was going to have daddy all to herself!

Getting Ready for the Dance: We started a new tradition last year, that we will continue this year. A week or so before the dance, pumpkin and I went shopping for a present for daddy. In the photo below you will see her giving her dad the cuff links she picked out especially for him. She was so proud of them!

 Pumpkin got a corsage: I can’t remember now if this corsage was from daddy, or if she got it from the dance itself. Either way she loved it, and she treasured it for weeks to come!

Magical Memories: Before they left for their date, pumpkin and daddy gave me a taste of their dance moves! I got a lump in my throat as my then 3 year old stood on top of daddies feet for a slow dance. There is something so special about the relationship between a father and a daughter – I just love that they got to make memories together!

Mommy plays chauffeur: The picture below is from when I dropped my two loves off in front of the dance! I must admit I came to pick them up a bit early so that I could sit outside and watch all the adorable dads and daughters coming out of the hall! It really warmed my heart.

Can’t wait for this year!
