As many of you already know, my baby girl turned ONE last week! So we had a small party for her a couple of weekends ago, and invited some family and friends over for a little celebration!
I was trying to think of some party favors to give away as people left, and I kept coming back to the same thing!
The best part about making these is that they are SO SIMPLE. But they are also easily customizable! Is customizable a word?? Let’s just assume it is… lol. You can decorate the pretzels to match anything you like! Use food coloring to change the color of the chocolate, use dark chocolate or white, or you can put colored sprinkles or cookie crumbs on them...the sky is the limit!! And they taste delicious no matter how you decorate them:)
What you need:
-1 bag of pretzel rods (1 bag generally has 30 rods in it. You may want extra, in case some are broken though.)
-2 (12 oz.) bags of white, or milk chocolate morsels
-Some wax paper
-Any sprinkles, or edible decorations you want to use!
Directions:
Step 1- Put your chocolate pieces in a double boiler. Or make one, by finding a metal mixing bowl that fits over a saucepan (you can see the one I made in the picture below.) Just make sure the bottom of the bowl is well above the water. Fill the saucepan below about 2/3rds of the way full of water, and heat it up. Do NOT allow to boil. You can scorch the chocolate and dry it out that way.
Step 2- After you see your chocolate bits start to get a “glossy” look, you can start to mix the chocolate gently. Eventually it will melt evenly. Be sure to keep checking that the water under your bowl is not getting too hot. Melting the chocolate slowly is the way to go. Resist trying to get it to melt too quickly!
Step 3- Dip your pretzels in the chocolate. If your bowl isn’t deep enough you can use a spoon to ladle chocolate over the pretzel rods. Lay the pretzels on wax paper to harden.
Step 4- Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle on any edible decorations. I used yellow sprinkles since my daughters party had a yellow theme!
Step 5- Wrap, and ENJOY!!

I do so enjoy your blogs Shannon…they do so give the reader that warm fuzzy feeling!
OK, I'm being technically challenged today & that is so unlike me. I do so enjoy your blogs Shannon…they give the reader such a warm fuzzy feeling. I always want to snuggle up with a glass of milk & some oatmeal cookies while reading them. ~Mitzi
I'm so glad you enjoy reading milkandcuddles Mitzi! I have to admit the one drawback of my header is that it also makes me want milk and cookies all the time too!!
Yes I absolutely love reading your blogs. And "Milk & Cuddles" is the most perfect title for you to have selected.
I do read them all, even though I don't comment on them all. I get them on my phone and like this one came through when I was on break and it was such a welcome msg to enjoy while taking a break!
You get them on your phone??!? How handy is that! How did you work that out? That is fantastic!
Somehow, someway, I subscribed to your blog via email; (by chance maybe, I'm not sure) and since my emails come to my phone…well, there you have it. I have a blackberry, so I can do a lot of things from my phone, which definitely comes in quite handy. I am always connected no matter where I am. Sometimes when driving somewhere (riding of course) I'll access myspace or facebook just to see what's going on. I can access blogger, but I prefer to "compose" on the computer.
Subscribe is such a cool feature! I knew it delivered to e-mail, but I never thought about it going to peoples phones that access e-mail. So cool:)
Thanks for subscribing!
Shan these are so adorable!! Love the "fluttering by"and the butterfly theme! and thanks so much for the directions on how to make them, great tips! love ya:) Nikki
These look yummy!! And they even sound easy enough for the culinary-challenged folks such as myself! 🙂
Also, in reference to what Mitzi was saying about receiving updates on her phone – the very first time I saw your new blog layout was from my new phone 🙂 It's so nice to be able to access it anywhere!
You are, indeed, a popular blogger 🙂
Love you! 🙂
Hi Shannon~
Thanks SO much for stopping by my blog, leaving a comment AND becoming a 'follower'! I really appreciate it. I really love to meet new bloggers.
Aren't those chocolate covered pretzels the bomb?!? What a great idea for party favors. I've never thought of that. We always make them at Christmastime. However, we use the vanilla or chocolate almond bark instead of the morsels. I guess it is kind of cheating but it is WAY easier! And, I am all about making things easy! :0) We also like to do RITZ Crackers with Peanut Butter and dip those. Do you make those? They are so YUMMY!!! OK, now I want some!!
Well, thanks again for dropping by my blog. I hope you will do it again sometime. I just become a 'follower' of your blog so I'll definitely be back here soon!
Hope the rest of your week is awesome!
Many, Many Blessings,
Teresa <><
