One thing I didn’t really think about when I decided to start blogging – was the technical side of things. ..
I was excited to connect with other parents, and to have a place to share my feelings about this new and exciting stage of my life. I wasn’t thinking about SEO or how to find those people I wanted to connect with so much. I guess I just assumed I would find them…and they would find me!
And if you are a reader of this blog, we probably DID find each other by chance! But lately I’ve been thinking more about how I can connect to readers without having to rely so heavily on, umm…. destiny? Fate? LOL.
And I’ve been trying to take a look at where people are coming from when they find me. Have one of you loyal readers sent them my way through a link? In many cases the answer has been yes! And I thank you all so much for recommending Milk and Cuddles to your own readers. I feel so humbled and lucky when any of you do that!
Are you confused about SEO? I sure am! It seems as soon as I think I have the basics of how search engines work down – I hear that the whole strategy has changed. And in the past I’ve just assumed it’s too technical for me, and I ignored it – kind of like how I ignored math in high school;)
But I’m turning over a new leaf! We are having discussions about SEO at Mom Loop– and I’m learning a lot! We’d love to get your two cents too, so feel free to drop by and contribute or just read!
Also I’m starting a 30 Day Blogging Challenge via Mom Blog SEO Course by Type A Parent.
Is anyone else doing it too? If so- let me know!! We can support and learn from eachother! And hopefully in the next month I’ll make my site easier to find when people are looking, and easier to navigate for you readers who have always been so supportive and helpful!
What confuses you most about the technical side of blogging?

I have so just to learn.
I sat in on a conference call about SEO some time ago and have since forgotten everything I learned. So, I definitely need a refresher!
SEO and high school math – that sums it up for me! Lol. One day I hope to get a handle on it. Funny how similar our thoughts are on chance. Glad I found you, after my classes are over, I will definitely look into it more. 🙂
Sometimes I shut my eyes and pretend all there is to blogging is writing and posting… Where is my fairy god mother? 🙂
I’d like to attend one of those conferences that talks about stuff like this. Does anyone know which ones are best (e.g. Blog World, BlogHer, SOBcon, Blissdom, & the Type-A Mom Conference)? And do the female focused ones welcome guys, too? This daddy blogger has a lot to learn.
All of it! My husband routinely updates the SEO for his websites and it seems to be really time consuming. He’s tried to explain it to me before but my mind tends to wander when it comes to anything techie. I’m hoping to look into myself though, I’m better at reading about something then I am at listening to something.
I am still a newbie when it comes to tech and blogging and have MUCH to learn. I love the forums and tips from experienced bloggers — it helps tremendously!
Sounds cool! I kind of do what you’ve been doing, just let fate attract people:) but I don’t know what this SEO thing is and it sounds neat! I’m going to take a look at the Blogging Challenge.
SEO – it’s on my list of things to learn about (along with many other internet terms, lol).
(PS, I stopped by via the Mom Loop Friday Comment Follow)
The analytics part is definitely something I should focus on more. I don’t even look at my blog statistics nearly as often as I should. I love so many things about blogging, and I’m sure that could be fun in its own way, too! Visiting from Mom Loop.
Popping over from Mom Loop Friday…. and this post is right where I am at the moment– wondering what’s up with this SEO stuff and how to make sense of it all. Might have to check out the challenge you mention! 🙂

I definitely have a lot to learn about SEO and blogging. I try to make sure that I tag my articles properly but I really need to read up more on the subject.
I am now following your wonderful blog (Mom Loop Follow).
When I first started using the internet it was just for fun, and I still love to read and follow blogs. But I did learn about SEO and it helps me create little sites and such that bring in money.
I learned a lot from a free guide written by Dan Thies that you should check out if you are interested in SEO. Here is the link:

I am very fortunate to have married my very own SEO expert! But I know I need to learn it myself so I don’t have to rely on him so much. Life is a continual process of learning, isn’t it?
Stopping by from MomLoop Friday.
