Last night was perfect weather, and the perfect evening to enjoy a classic musical!
DSM had us covered! Dallas Summer Musicals totally re-imagined production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “THE KING AND I” is a fresh, fun take on a truly timeless musical! This live on stage production is being preformed at Music Hall at Fair Park, from March 20 – April 5, 2015.
And is truly must see!
Our Favorite things:
One of the great things about Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “THE KING AND I” – and particularly this production, is it’s family friendly nature.
I brought my elementary school aged daughter, and she was totally enthralled. The East meets West theme of the show also prompted some great discussions about different cultures, diversity, and appreciating different viewpoints and life experiences!
And while the color and spectacle make this a great family show, it also has enough romance and intrigue to make it a fabulous date night!
Final Thoughts:
This wonderful production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “THE KING AND I” is directed by Glenn Casale with original choreography by Bob Richard. And they both do a beautiful job of highlighting the vast talents of this cast!
The production features Rachel York (as Anna Leonowens), joined by Alan Ariano (as the King of Siam) – they have wonderful chemistry, and just the right amount of tension! They are both a joy to watch.
Who else is in the cast?
Additional stand out cast members include, Ted Deasy (Captain Orton/Sir Ramsey), Ray Rochelle (the Karalahome), Yoon Jeong Seaong (Tuptim), Tami Swartz (Lady Thiang), Devin Ilaw (Lun Tha), Aidan Winn (Louis Leonowens), and Stephen Major Yongji Curda (Prince Chulalongkorn).
The immensely talented ensemble cast includes – Frenie Acoba, Carol Angeli, Eric Badique, Korey Buecheler, Alysia Chang, Alex Chester, Louise Cornillez, Justine “Icy” Moral, Jan Javier, Jolina Javier, Peter King-Yuen, Bety Le, Eddy Lee, Stephanie Lo, Azumi Milligan, Rumi Oyama, Marcus Shane, Sai Somboon, Sam Tanabe, and Jee Teo. Each and everyone provide this production with such fun!
