Shannon traded in her sensible NYC TV producer shoes (they were best for taking the subway), for a pair of Texas Cowboy boots when she married her best friend! He's at fault for making this Yankee a Texan! Shannon writes about all things that make a house a home. Her chief blogging inspiration is being the proud & slightly neurotic mom of a preschool age daughter.
You can find Shannon on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and her new favorite place to hang out, Google+.
Shannon, have you tried going into one of those fine stores where they will do a facial make-over for you; something like Clinique? Sometimes that helps. That way you can at least have an idea of the color they are suggesting for you. Warning: they will try to push you to buy their products, but you are not obligated to do so.
Another option is go with a Mineral foundation, those seem to be easier to match with your skin tone. I’m only guessing here but I’d think you would be a buff. Ivory would be too white for you and leave you washed out…but there are different numbers. The higher the number, the darker the shade.
You could also go to the Mary Kay site, that might be able to help you too.
Oh yeah, I forgot to add that you will want to test out your color in natural light. (outside) Sometimes the color they might choose for you will look awesome in the store under their fluorescent lights, but when you step outside, it looks different.

I can’t help you with any make-up tips! I am not a make-up girl. Some days I am happy to just get a shower and my hair combed!!
I photo tagged you on my blog. Come check it out and play along!
I love you! I think you are so funny & FUN 🙂
I wear Clinique Neutral powder foundation. The Clinique lady said it was best year-round. I’ve used it for years!
Hope this helps!
I can’t hear all of this cause I’m at work 🙁 but I don’t usually blend just cause I don’t have time, hence sometimes my face looks alittle yellow! lol. I just the mineral makeup. From watching the video it looks like you’re blending two shades together, I know from when I worked at Origins in college (I love that store!!!!!!! they had the best discounts) they do a great blending for you to actually match your skin tone. I remember when I went there once, they were like, yeah you’re doing it all wrong, and they sat me down and got me one that matched my skin well. They probably have an Origins in the mall near you if you wanted to check it out!
