If you’re like me you are right in the middle of trying to prep your house for the holiday season! In the past when I wanted greenery I’ve made Dollar Store Christmas decor that’s super cute. But one thing it’s not – is super realistic. And that was one reason I was pretty excited to partner with Nearly Natural to give my backyard a holiday makeover. I knew right away that I’d like something that could be used inside my house, as well as outside. I’m the kind of home decorator that likes to move things around each year, and I wanted to be sure I had options.
Nearly Natural specializes in artificial plants, trees, and flowers that as the name aptly suggests – look very real. And that’s really helpful when you may want to place a plant or tree close to where people will be seeing it at close range.
After looking at all the options on the Nearly Natural site, I chose the 5′ Mini Cedar Pine Tree (Indoor/Outdoor). I like that I can put it in a pot on my porch, or directly in my landscaping and it will look equally at home. I’m only sad that I don’t have two, because I think it would look so cute flanking and front door or entryway too!
For now, I’ve decided to embrace the season and use my cedar pine tree, as a bit of an outdoor Christmas Tree to add some greenery to our pergola during these upcoming colder months. This is the time of year, my garden plants typically hibernate and lose some of their usual luster. My new mini cedar tree shipped quickly and was well packed! I just put the top section into the bottom half and I was done with set up.

Getting the Pergola ready for the Holidays To Do List:
- Spray off the Pergola, and trim the plants and brush that have grown wild during the summer.
- Take all the seat cushions off the furniture and store for the winter.
- Hang new string lights, set up the app to change their color on command.
- Prep the mini cedar tree in pot with real soil, to help sell the realistic look. Fluff branches, and done.
- Hide fairy lights in the cedar tree that light up at night.
- Add some extra holiday pillows & accessories.
- Pour a glass of eggnog and enjoy the brand new holiday space!
(My Backyard Pergola with Lights for the Holiday Season!)
Inspired by my new Mini Cedar Tree, I decided to upgrade our Pergola Lighting. I’ve been wanting lights that can switch colors according to the time of year, or holiday season. And I think it will be great to have clear lights during the normal part of the year, and something special for the holidays.
With that in mind, I am adding a string of Fairy Lights to my mini cedar tree that can change from Holiday Multi-color lights, to clear. That way my new faux Cedar tree can coordinate with the rest of the Pergola! Our puppy clearly appreciates the ambience!
I’m thrilled with our new festive pergola look, and especially with the Mini Cedar Pine Tree. It’s very convincing as a real tree, and looks almost indistinguishable from the other cedar tree I have planted in another corner of my yard. It’s also very stable, and even very strong winds have not tipped it over. And because it was made to be indoor or outdoor – I know I am not going to have to worry about unrealistic fading once the summer sun is back next year.
If you’re looking for some easy to take are of greenery, I recommend you check out Nearly Natural. Maybe there is a corner of your yard thats hard to water? Or maybe you just need some color inside the house! I’m loving how Nearly Natural can fill in that gap!
