Halloween Party- that didn’t happen!

My husband has a birthday near Halloween – so this year I decided to throw a Halloween birthday Party for him! Decorations were put up,  tons of food was ordered, cider was mulled! But the party never happened!

The day the party was to happen- we were busy getting ready when it started raining. The rain didn’t let up, and soon there were tornado warnings not in our county- but some close by. We got some cancellations from my husbands friends- and then his family. Obviously we couldn’t throw the party without his friends or family- so we were forced to cancel it.  Boo!!! So disappointing!

Some of the families that we have play dates with decided they didn’t mind the rain- and came by anyway to help us eat some of the food and to hang out! Which was great!

Would you like a sneak peak into the party that never happened?

(our door was decorated with corn stalks and hay bales)

(I found pumpkin lights!)

(Cobwebs and a spider covered the fireplace…)

(And the bookcase….)

(Well- cobwebs covered everything!)

(Tons of food from Sweet Tomatoes– they were awesome and delivered everything in pouring rain!)

(Homemade Mulled Cider was put in the slow cooker to keep hot- Irish Whiskey nearby to spike it if that was your preference)

(Sparkly crows landed on our hutch…)

(Spiders with pretty jewel eyes crawled the wall- they were friendly spiders!)

(Even the bathroom may have been decked out in arachnids!)

(Homemade Bug soaps for favors)

(Our pumpkins Playhouse even got into the Fall action!)

( Our pumpkin as Lil Bo Peep)

(Thanks to our playgroup for coming by in  the rain)

(We have been eating all the leftovers all week! This is what our fridge looked like packed up with all the uneaten party food!)

Happy Halloween! Hope yours is full of sun- and NO RAIN!!!!

Oh, your place looked so cute too! Last year we were going to have a fall bday party for my son, but had to cancel the whole thing when 80% of the kids supposed to come came down w/ swine flu. I guess I’d take a storm over swine flu, for the most part 😉

The house looked (and still looks) just wonderful, baby. I appreciated all the hard work you went to to make it so perfect. I’m sorry more people didn’t get to enjoy it in person, but I know the ones that braved the weather and came had a great time. Molly and her wee friends certainly didn’t know the difference. The decorations were incredible, and the food was to die for. And think of all the great left overs we enjoyed! I love you so much. Thank for the great birthday, Sweetheart.

Wow Shannon, you really went all-out! So much love, creativity, and exceptional hospitality! I’m so sorry to hear that you were forced to cancel, but was happy to learn that a few friends decided to brave the storm and take part in your festivities! I’d imagine that your hubby must have been bowled over with all of your loving touches and must have had an incredible birthday all the same.

What a shame to have gone to all that work and have so many have to cancel. So much love, care and thought went into everything and I’m sure your husband and your kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Best wishes for a wonderful year to the *birthday boy*

Bottom line, loved bowling. I suck. But it’s fun! Who knew? Well, lots of people. But now me too! Also- it’s helpful to have friends that make you try new things and expand your horizons. Super grateful for mine! ❤️
