River Legacy – After Dark in the Park

My two year old daughter and I recently attended “After Dark in the Park” – a family-friendly fall festival that highlights the unique environmental-education programs of River Legacy Living Science Center.  The River Legacy Science Center is a great place to bring children at any time of year- but it’s a lot of fun at Halloween. Tickets run $7 for adults and children alike. Toddlers and babies two and under are free. Below are some pics from our experience!

(At the front Entrance- after dark the torches behind us get lit…Survivor style!)

The annual festival features family fun that includes:

» karaoke
» storytelling under the stars
» starlight stroll
» pumpkin patch
» walk on the wild side
» hayride shuttles from River Legacy Parks to event entrance
» concessions
» a variety of games and activities geared for children ages 2 to 10.

(Lot’s of blow up pumpkins and characters for photos and ogling)

(There are free games for young children like bean bag toss- as well as games required a small fee like bounce houses)

( A small pumpkin Patch  was set up and kids could go in and select a pumpkin to decorate for a nominal fee)

( Craft stations had tables for both older and smaller children- which was great)

(My little artist had a blast!)

(My little ones favorite part? The hayride from the parking lots to the Festival, and back again at the end of the night! She did not want to get off!)

One warning- the $7 dollar entrance fee does cover the basics, but bounce houses and pumpkin patch and food are all extra. So be sure you budget extra!  If you live in the DFW area- check it out! This  Dallas fort Worth Halloween Tradition has become a must do for us!

We will definitely be back next year! Maybe next year our bedtime will be a little later…and we’ll even  get to see it get spooky in the dark!

This looks like a lot of fun. It sounds like most of the event is covered by the fee.

This looks like fun! I’m in the area and haven’t heard of it before. Of course I’m hauling four kiddos with me so fees add up fast! 🙂
