Single Island Shores {Where to stay on Seneca Lake}

When our family recently made a trip to the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York – we were looking for where to stay on Seneca Lake. Seneca Lake is one of the most picturesque of the the Finger Lakes, and we hoped to have a chance to spend some quality family time enjoying the spectacular view. And that’s why we were thrilled to find out that Single Island Shores was available for our stay.

Newly opened, these cottages (don’t call them cabins – they are far more than that!) boast some of the best views on Seneca Lake! Not only do they allow you unparalleled views of Seneca Lake, but they also offer something no other lodgings in the area do! An actual dock, with direct Seneca Lake access. This means you don’t have to just look at the Lake – you can touch too!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom Luxury cottage Rental, Cottage #10. It had a beautiful wrap around porch, that was equally inviting the evening we arrived as when we woke in the morning. We saw ducks, boats – and blessed silence on the lake. It was truly a chance to recharge and take a quiet moment to reflect.

We also really appreciated how bright and airy the Cottages are. There is no dark wood here. All bright and light wood, the Cottages have a sleek and clean appearance. And so much room!

I had a wonderful time getting to speak with one of the owners of Single Shore Islands Cottages, John Alexander. That’s him smiling in the photo above. His contagious passion for this project left me smiling ear-to-ear. You never have to doubt that your comfort is top priority at this family run business. I loved hearing how much the Single Island Shore folks delight in the idea of families & friends coming to these cottages to make life long memories.

And for those local, I can see a week on these cabins becoming a yearly tradition. What about a family reunion where each family has their own cottage? This would be the perfect location!

With both 1 & 2 bedroom Cottages there are lot’s of options in size and location. And while being close to nature and the lake might appeal to the tree hugger in your life, there is no lack of luxury in these cottages for those who appreciate creature comforts! Our family is of that ilk, and we loved having room to spread out and the flat screen TV’s for downtime.

The Cottage Kitchens are well stocked with pots, pans, glassware and more. And all the appliances are brand new and gorgeous! Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful places our family has ever stayed.

There is only one problem I can see with Single Shore Island Cottages. That soon, other people are going to know about them!

And once the word is out, good luck renting them! They are like nothing else in the Watkins Glen, Seneca Lake area. Truly a category unto themselves! So book now, while you can still be the first in the know about upstate New York’s most beautiful and unique lodgings!

You won’t want to leave. We sure didn’t.
